leanne christie presently lives in london. she graduated from rhodes university, grahamstown, south africa, in 1997 with a bachelor of fine art degree. in the past few years leanne has spent time in south africa, ireland, england and australia. growing up in a culturally rich and colourful south africa, leanne's primary concern is with colour and its inherent luminous qualities. however her intrigue lies with the naive creativity of the human spirit. the everyday expressions of beauty revealed by less westernised cultures.
leanne has exhibited in south africa and the u.k and her work is held in private collections in south africa, new zealand, england, spain, australia and canada.
presently leanne is concentrating on developing her love of portraiture. involving herself in the exploration of the abstract qualities of light, colour and surface marks. during a recent interview at oildogs studios she listed american painter david a leffel as a major influence in her investigations
